Using Sick Leave to Care for a Family Member
The following information and more details can be found in the University Leave Policy (UPPS 04.04.30)
Eligibility: Review eligibility requirements on in UPPS 04.04.30 Section 07.01.
Request Leave: An employee, absent from duty because of illness, shall notify his or her supervisor at the earliest practicable time. An Application for Leave Approval form is available for use at the supervisor’s discretion.
Faculty: See UPPS 04.04.30 (Section 04) for information on reporting sick leave.

Updating Insurance Coverage & Spending Account Allocations
If your loved one is a dependent, you may consider reviewing your insurance coverage during the next open enrollment period or increasing your contributions to your TexFlex Flexible Spending Account, which allows you to set aside money from your paycheck, pre-tax, to use for eligible out-of-pocket expenses.
