Texas State University takes pride in recognizing and celebrating employees for their hard work and commitment to supporting the mission of the University. Several awards and recognition programs exist across the University's divisions.

Academic Affairs
A Faculty Service Awards ceremony will be held annually to express appreciation to all academic personnel holding a faculty rank who have served the university in full-time, cumulative employment for a minimum of 10 years.
Several honorary titles, including those of regents’ professor, regents’ teacher, university distinguished professor, distinguished professor and associate professor emeritus, and professor and associate professor emeritus – are awarded to current and retired faculty to recognize long and distinguished service at Texas State University.
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Scholarly/Creative Activity, and Excellence in Service are awarded through the Texas State University Faculty Awards Program.
The Piper Professor Award is conferred by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation of San Antonio, Texas. The Piper Professor Award is intended to recognize outstanding achievement in teaching at Texas colleges and universities. The Foundation’s selection committee looks for “the well-rounded, outgoing teacher, devoted to the profession, who has made a special impact on students and the community.”

Finance & Support Services
This Finance and Support Services (FSS) policy and procedure statement establishes quarterly FSS team recognition programs, defines the composition of the selection committee, eligibility criteria, nomination and selection procedures, award for the program, and discusses other employee recognition programs in the FSS division
Under the provisions of UPPS No. 04.04.30, University Leave Policy, Section 10.01, department heads may grant an Outstanding Performance Leave Award to eligible employees. In the division of Finance and Support Services (FSS), the vice president for FSS (VPFSS), or designee, may grant Outstanding Performance Leave Awards to eligible employees.

Mariel M. Muir Excellence in Mentoring Awards

The university will give the awards to persons who provide exceptional support of and show exceptional commitment to assisting less experienced individuals in becoming more proficient in their professional activities and educational pursuits. Awardees should demonstrate their exceptional support and commitment by contributing time, effort, and advice that enhance the performance of other faculty, staff, or students. The award recognizes individuals who serve as role models by fostering the growth and development of co-workers and students.

Student Success
The Student Success Outstanding Employee Performance Awards are initiated to recognize employees for outstanding service to the Division or University. The VPSS may grant outstanding performance leave to an employee for performance above and beyond their job responsibilities when deemed appropriate.

Staff Council Awards
The Staff Council Awards recognize and honor five distinguishing areas of service that university staff members excel in through their valued commitment and dedication to enriching the university and community over the past academic year:
Earl L. Moseley, Jr. - Staff Community Service Award
This annual award provides $200 to a staff member who has undertaken significant community service in San Marcos, Hays County, or nearby communities over the previous academic year.
Deborah and James Mathews - Excellence in Collaboration/Outreach Award
This annual award provides $200 to a staff member whose work over the previous academic year exemplifies an ability to collaborate with others in order to achieve overall excellence in service to Texas State University.
Rodrigo Rodriguez - Outstanding Service/Skilled Worker Award
This award provides $200 annually to a Service/Skilled staff member whose actions, deeds and work ethic over the previous year exemplifies overall excellence in service to Texas State University. Superior work ethics and commitment to job performance will be the basis for this award.
Dr. Lawrence Estaville Employee Excellence Award
This annual award provides $300 to a staff member whose actions, deeds and work ethic over the previous year exemplifies overall excellence in service to Texas State University.

Texas State University System Regents' Awards
The TSUS Foundation and Board of Regents have established award programs to recognize outstanding faculty, staff and students. The System's highest faculty honor, the Regents’ Professor Award, is conferred upon professors who demonstrate excellence and exemplary achievement in the areas of teaching, research and publication, and service. Awards include:

University Administration
Employees may receive paid leave each year for outstanding performance (see Section 10.01 in UPPS No. 04.04.30, University Leave Policy).

Years of Service Awards
The university holds a years of service awards ceremony annually in late April or May to express appreciation to staff personnel who served the university in full-time, cumulative employment for a minimum of ten years. This ceremony will also recognize staff members who have 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 years of service. Cumulative years of employment may include non-consecutive years.
